David Hammond, originally from Beaver Falls, PA., joined the faculty of Westminster Christian Academy in the fall of 1970. At that time he had finished his second year of seminary and anticipated returning to seminary following a one year internship at WCA. The truth of Proverbs 16:9 was evidenced in that the Lord redirected his plans as He gave David a passion for teaching. David enjoyed serving on the WCA faculty for 50 years before retiring in 2020. He also served as the Director of Development and as Director of Alumni Relations during his tenure.
David married Dixie Davenport (WCA second grade teacher) in December of 1971. They have been greatly blessed with three children and their spouses – Matthew (WCA ’92) & Rochelle, Aaron (WCA ’93) & Erica and Emily (WCA ’95) & Jeremy Donaldson (WCA ’96) and twelve grandchildren. Dixie is currently a part of the WCA middle school faculty.
David was ordained to the gospel ministry in June of 1981 and has had the pleasure of serving as organizing pastor for several PCA mission churches in the North Alabama region.
