Although born in New Jersey and reared in Utah, Joe would like to consider himself a naturalized citizen of the South. Joe spent his undergraduate years in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley at the Virginia Military Institute where he made a vain attempt at becoming a Mechanical Engineer, only to emerge four years later as an English major with a love of reading. After spending 12 years in the US Marine Corps, Joe was called to gospel ministry and resigned his officer commission in 2008. While pursuing a seminary degree at Reformed Theological Seminary, Joe served as the Director of Youth Ministries at Northpointe Presbyterian Church (PCA) in Meridian, MS. Joe also served as the Pastor of Woodland Presbyterian Church (PCA) in Hattiesburg, MS from 2012 until 2018. During seminary and his first pastorate, Joe had the privilege of serving his country as a reserve flight instructor for the US Navy. Joe is married to Elizabeth Lassiter of South Carolina, whom he met on a wonderfully providential blind date at the Marine Corps birthday ball! Joe and Elizabeth have been blessed with five children: Joseph, John-Mark, Nathan, Susie and Silas. When he’s not engaged in the glorious work of the church, Joe loves spending time on the emerald green beaches of the Florida Gulf-coast, camping with his family, taking photographs, and enjoying the Beautiful Game (soccer).
